Libertyville Sports Complex turns into "United Center North" for the Chicago Blackhawks Roadwatch Party
With hundreds of enthusiastic fans dressed in their best Blackhawks gear, the house was rocking at the Libertyville Sports Complex for the Chicago Blackhawks Official Roadwatch TV Party on Thursday April 5.
The Libertyville Sports Complex turned into the “United Center North” for this special event as legendary Blackhawks soloist Jim Cornelison sang the national anthem to the roar of the fans waving their Blackhawks “rally towels”. Special appearances by Blackhawks Hall of Famer Denis Savard, the Blackhawks Ice Crew Girls, emcee Chet Coppock and mascot TommyHawk provided a great atmosphere to watch the Blackhawks road game against the Minnesota Wild on a big screen TV inside the Libertyville Sports Complex.
And of course, when the Blackhawks scored a goal, the ‘red light’ went on, followed by the roar of the crowd and the Blackhawks signature “goal scoring song” of Chelsea Dagger.
Prior to the game, there were Blackhawks highlight videos, as well as a special Village of Libertyville proclamation from Mayor Terry Weppler to Denis Savard. The evening also featured concessions, floor hockey for kids, a special booth with games, prizes, giveaways, contests and a special raffle of Hawks items for the fans.
“For the second year in a row, we were so proud to host such a great event for the Chicago Blackhawks”, said Conrad “Connie” Kowal, Director of the Sports Complex for the Village of Libertyville. “A great event, great crowd and everyone had a great time.”
Located at the corner of Peterson Road and Route 45, in its 9th year of operation, the Libertyville Sports Complex features multi-purpose facilities including an Indoor Events Center, Fitness Center, Golf Driving Range and Softball Field.
