Local Charity Event Designed to "Beat the Winter Blahs"

Now that the holidays are over and winter has arrived in Lake County, women might need a little pampering to renew their mind, body and spirit. Luckily, MissFIT Complete, Inc. is sponsoring an event for United Way of Lake County’s Women’s Leadership Council (WLC) called "Beat the Winter Blahs: Ladies’ Night Out" on Thursday, February 16th from 6:00 to 8:30 pm.

Nearly twenty local vendors will be present to help women beat the "winter blahs", including: fitness demonstrations, chair massages, healthy snack makeovers and raffle prizes, including a luxury Passchal handbag and MissFIT pampering package.

"Partnering with the Women’s Leadership Council for our New Year kick-off event seemed to make perfect sense," says Katie Oldham, President of MissFIT. "Our mission is to inspire women across Lake County to adopt healthy and active lifestyles through our expert led fitness and wellness services. Our Personal Trainers, Wellness Coach and Massage Therapist comprise a team of women passionate about instilling the knowledge and true value of living well, being fit and passing that on to the next generation. So this event allows us to convey the importance of women taking care of themselves while supporting children locally. We hope that the take home message is one of women learning to value and nurture their minds, bodies and our children all while having fun…..a philosophy that would be well adopted into our everyday lives!"

The Women’s Leadership Council is a group of Lake County women who have joined forces to form a network of philanthropists, volunteers and community leaders to improve the lives of women and children in Lake County. "WLC has partnered with MissFIT on this event because we know that supporting and nurturing women is critical for ensuring the well-being of the children and families in our community," said Patrice Maloney-Knauff, chair of the Women’s Leadership Council. She adds, "This exciting event will showcase local vendors with a wide variety of resources and products focused on pampering and renewing our most valuable resource--our strong network of women who make a difference in the lives of others."

The Ladies’ Night event is open to women who want to beat the winter blahs with a Ladies’ Night Out! To register for the event, please visit www.liveunitedlakecounty.org/missfit. The cost is $15 per person and includes admission, a raffle ticket and a wine ticket. The event benefits United Way of Lake County’s Success By 6 Program for early education.
