Chicago Man Arrested in Libertyville for Alleged Criminal Sexual Abuse

The following arrest information was supplied by the Libertyville Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Libertyville police charged a Chicago man with criminal sexual abuse and traveling to meet a minor.

Jack B. Cartlidge, 30, 6073 N. Albany Ave., Chicago, was charged Jan. 30 with three counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, a Class 2 felony, and with traveling to meet a minor, a Class 3 felony.

Cartlidge also faces charges of criminal sexual assault in Wisconsin.

In early September, police acted on a complaint from a Libertyville resident about an inappropriate online relationship between his juvenile daughter and Cartlidge. Further investigation revealed that Cartlidge had traveled from Chicago to Fond du Lac, Wis., and to Libertyville to engage in sexual acts with the juvenile.

Cartlidge is being held in the Lake County Jail in lieu of $500,000 bail pending a Feb. 21 preliminary hearing at the Lake County courthouse.

The arrest comes after a four-month investigation conducted in tandem with the Fond du Lac, Wis., Police Department.
