Christmas Decoration Stolen from Casa Bonita
Two exterior Christmas planters were pushed over and two custom wreaths were stolen at Casa Bonita restaurant, 633 N. Milwaukee Ave., the night of Dec. 17. A third planter also was removed from its original position and possibly damaged. Replacement costs were estimated at $2,000.
Burglary at Marytown
Police were called to Marytown, 1600 W. Park Ave., on a report of a burglary to two drop safes in the basement of the church. One safe was found on its side with an opening on top large enough for a person to reach in and remove the money, and the other safe had been dislodged from a chute allowing access to the money. The theft occurred between Dec. 17 and Dec. 24 and the loss was estimated at about $2,000.
Theft at Auto Shop
An automotive shop in the 1400 block of North Milwaukee Avenue was burglarized during the overnight hours of Dec. 23. About 20 used industrial batteries were stolen from a fenced-in area, just outside the rear of the business. A lock was cut to gain entry to the secured area. The loss was estimated at $324.
Theft From Car
A business owner in the 900 block of East Park Avenue reported that the rear registration plate was stolen from his truck while it was parked in front of his company. Both the registration plate and the registration sticker were entered into a system as stolen.
Residential Burglary on Christmas Day
A resident in the 600 block of McKinley Avenue returned home at 8:45 p.m. Dec. 25 and found that someone had illegally entered the home. Holiday ornaments were broken and a bathroom cabinet and drawers by the sink had been opened and gone through. Nothing, however, appeared to be missing. No force entry was found, and police suspect that entry was made through a breezeway door. Police are investigating.
John A. Graf, 48, 610 Burdick St, Libertyville, was charged Dec. 22 with public intoxication, resisting a peace officer, and obstructing a peace officer. He later was released on a personal recognizance bond and issued a Jan. 23 court date in Waukegan.
Gregory W. Grasmick, 49, 32842 N. River Road, Libertyville, was charged Dec. 22 with driving under the influence of alcohol, illegal transportation of alcohol, unlawful possession of cannabis, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, speeding and improper lane use. He later was released after posting his driver’s license and signing a personal recognizance bond. He was issued a Jan. 20 court date in Waukegan.
Jessica A. Reese, 39, 199 E. Port Clinton Road, Vernon Hills, was charged Dec. 23 with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood-alcohol content level exceeding .08, improper lane use and speeding. She later was released on a $1,000 personal recognizance bond and issued a Jan. 30 court date in Waukegan.
Dianti L. Johnson, 22, 2117 20th St., Zion, was charged Dec. 21 with driving while license suspended and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. He later was released on a $2,000 personal recognizance bond and issued a Jan. 25 court date in Mundelein.
William H. Neurauter, 32, 2616 Kendall Crossing, Johnsburg, was charged Dec. 21 with speeding and driving without a valid driver’s license. He later was released on a $1,500 personal recognizance bond and issued a Jan. 11 court date in Mundelein.
Carmen E. Tackett, 31, 4128 Timothy St., Zion, was arrested at her place of employment on East Park Avenue in Libertyville on Dec. 23 on a warrant arrest for obstructing justice. She was turned over to Round Lake Beach police.
