Electricity Savings to be Seen on September Bills
The new electricity rate with FirstEnergy Solutions Corp. is 44 percent lower than ComEd's rate.
Residents who didn't opt-out of the village's electric aggregation contract with FirstEnergy Solutions Corp. will start seeing the savings on their September bills.
According to the village website, the savings will begin with residents' August usage.
Trustees voted May 7 to enter into a contract with FirstEnergy Solutions Corp. to supply electricity to Libertyville residents at a rate that is 44 percent lower than that offered by ComEd. As of June 1, the new ComEd rate is 8.5 cents per kilowatt-hour. For the two-year contract with FirstEnergy, the rate will be 4.75 cents per kilowatt-hour.
