Orchid Seminar: Gardeners of Central Lake County

- Why Go?: Growing orchids as houseplants can be very rewarding - Jerry Cleland, past president of our club , has been growing orchids for over 20 years . Jerry will share his wealth of experience and knowledge on orchids and creating a tropical paradise in your home. Following the free program, meet and mingle with members of our garden club.

Lake County Family YMCA Opens Club Y for Youth in Vernon Hills
- When: Tuesday, March 13, 2012, 1:00 pm
- Where: 700 Lakeview Pky, Vernon Hills
- Why Go?: Participants will enjoy activities such as Wii Fit, Xbox Kinect, air hockey, board games, foosball and more. There also will be several theme nights throughout the year. Club Y will convene Tuesdays from 6 to 9 p.m. and Wednesdays from 6:30 to 9 p.m. While the program is offered free of charge to members of the Y, there is a charge of $5 per child per visit for community members.

NEW Mother/Daughter Book Club at Cook Park Library
- When: Wednesday, March 14, 2012, 2:00 pm
- Where: Cook Park Library, 413 N Milwaukee Ave, Libertyville
- Why Go?: Moms and their teen daughters (in Grades 6 - 8) are invited to participate in Cook Library District's first ever Mother/Daughter Book Club on the second Wednesday of the month.

Cook Library District Invites Recipe Submissions for Community-Wide Cookbook
- When: Through May 15, 2012
- Where: Cook Park Library, 413 N Milwaukee Ave, Libertyville
- Why Go?: Ladies and Gentlemen, start your ovens! The Cook Memorial Public Library District has launched a community-wide call for recipe submissions for their upcoming cookbook; A Library of Recipes: Cook Park and Aspen Drive Cooking Together. "What better way to bring a community together than through the unifying power of food," said Cookbook Committee member and Library Board president Bonnie Quirke. "Everyone has a favorite family food and by sharing these recipes, we hope to create a cookbook that will be passed down from generation to generation."
