Great Escape: Libertyville’s First Fridays

Escape to shopping, wine, appetizers, and music in the center of town.

Though many beloved summer events are winding down, MainStreet Libertyville’s First Fridays continue all year on the first Friday of every month. For busy moms who need an escape, this night out features an array of attractions to please any antsy mom.

Dozens of downtown businesses participate in First Friday. Last month featured live music at Parkview Gourmet and Viva le Vine, wine and food tasting at Wisma, beer tasting at Whatsit and Doohickey, free chocolate at Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, and lots of sales.

Moms with young children will enjoy the opportunity to visit downtown stores without pushing strollers through doors and tight spaces. You can even check off something from your to-do list with store specials throughout town. Fall shopping items can be found at downtown soccer, shoes, and clothing stores.

First Friday begins at 6 p.m. and most establishments are open until 9 p.m. Gather the girls, get a sitter and take your other half, or do a double date night with other fellow night-out starved parents. With so much going on in one place, even though we live in the suburbs, First Friday makes you feel like you live in the heart of the city.

More information about each First Friday's attractions can be found at www.MainStreetLibertyville.org.

Hi Sara, Someone's in the Kitchen has participated in the First Friday events from the first night the idea started a few years ago. Our staff has always had a lot of fun with this and our customers have had fun too! We always have an activity like a food demonstration or free treats for those who stop in. Last month was particularly busy and we look forward to the September event.
