July 4 Fireworks, First Friday This Week

Looking for something to do in Libertyville this week? There's a lot to choose from!

Here's a look at some fun events coming up this week in town:

July 4: The village of Libertyville, along with the Libertyville Mile of Cars, will hold the annual Independence Day fireworks display at dusk, about 9:30 p.m. in Butler Lake Park. The fireworks will be preceded by a Libertyville Band performance at 7:30 p.m. at the band shell. UPDATE: The village confirmed July 3 that the fireworks will go on as planned, despite the dry conditions.

July 5: MainStreet Libertyville will hold the weekly farmers market from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Church Street between Milwaukee Avenue and Brainerd Avenue. Special events at this week's farmers market include balloon sculpting, juggling and magic by R.C. Juggles from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and "Fresh Picked Stories" with the Cook Memorial Library at 10 and 11 a.m.

July 5: Pampered Pup'z will hold the annual Dog Days of Summer from July 5 to July 8 in and around Cook Park. The four-day event will feature the DockDogs-Big Dog Air Jumping competition and a variety of events. Local dogs can try out for Libertyville's Big Air Dog competition on July 5 in the PNC Bank parking lot, known for this event as the Xtreme Dog Park. After a practice jumping session from noon to 2 p.m., the Wave 1 tryouts will be held from 2:30 to 4, followed by the Wave 2 tryouts from 4 to 6 p.m. Onsite registration starts at noon. The local competition will be held at 6 p.m. July 6. Check out the other events planned for this weekend's Dog Days of Summer.

July 6: MainStreet Libertyville will hold Out to Lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Cook Park. Kevin Spica will entertain the crowd, and local vendors will sell food.

July 6: It's First Friday! From 6 to 9 p.m., a variety of activities will await shoppers in downtown Libertyville.

July 6: The village of Green Oaks will hold its weekly farmers market at Lambs Farm from 1 to 6 p.m. Lambs Farm is located near Route 176 and I-94.
