Libertyville Residents Participate in Chili Cook-Off to Benefit Teen Mothers

The event was held Feb. 17 at Gurnee Community Church.

Teen Mother Choices hosted their second Chili Cook-Off at Gurnee Community Church on Sunday, Feb. 17.

Eleven local chefs created their favorite homemade chili specialties and were judged by area pastors and Gurnee Chief of Police Fred Friedl.

John Shaw of Gurnee won the judges’ vote for best tasting chili. Later, contestants from the audience went up against area pastors along with WGN reporter Marcus Leshock for a pie-eating contest.

More than 200 people attended the event.

All proceeds benefited Teen Mother Choices, a non-profit organization devoted to the physical, emotional and spiritual growth of teen mothers and their young children in Lake and Cook counties. For more information about Teen Mother Choices, please visit teenmotherchoices.org.
