Libertyville, Vernon Hills High Schools Among Best in County
The schools ranked third and fifth, respectively, on Chicago Magazine's list.
Libertyville and Vernon Hills High Schools have been ranked among the top five high schools in Lake County by Chicago Magazine.
For its September 2012 issue, Chicago Magazine ranked the top 133 elementary and high schools in Cook, DuPage and Lake Counties, along with Chicago and other suburbs. The magazine used data from the 2010-11 school year state report cards, including the spending per pupil, graduation rate, average ACT composite score and the percentage of students who meet or exceed state standards on the Prairie State Achievement Exam.
In Lake County, Libertyville High School ranked third, while Vernon Hills High School ranked fifth.
"Our rankings in Chicago Magazine are a testament to the continued hard work and dedication of our students and staff," said Mary Todoric, director of communications for Community High School District 128. "We are extremely proud to be among the top high schools in Lake County, and we look forward to building upon our excellence as we begin the new school year."
Deerfield, Lake Forest and Stevenson High Schools rounded out the top five, at first, second and fourth, respectively.
In May, U.S. News & World Report ranked both Libertyville and Vernon Hills High Schools among the best in Illinois, at 16th and 18th, respectively.
