One Injured in Atlanta School Shooting: How to Stop the Violence?

Another school shooting took place in Atlanta Thursday, the Huffington Post reports. A student opened fire at Price Middle School, shooting a 14-year-old in the neck before being stopped by an armed officer at the school.
The wounded boy was taken to a nearby hospital and later discharged, the website reports. The school does have metal detectors, and it’s unclear how the weapon got inside, Fox Atlanta reports.
This incident is the latest school shooting in recent months. Most notably, 26 people, mostly elementary school children, were gunned down at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn. in December.
The Newtown shooting sparked a nationwide debate over gun control. President Obama made several proposals regarding the topic in mid-January.
Among the president's proposals were background checks for all gun sales, even those by private sellers, reinstating and strengthening the assault weapons ban that expired in 2004 and limiting ammunition magazines to 10 rounds, the New York Times reported.

The National Rifle Association feels schools will be safer with armed guards inside, NBC News reports. The NRA is now pushing for that to happen at schools nationwide.
The first congressional hearings on gun violence begin Wednesday.

How to stop the shootings ??? no one wants to listen to what will stop the shootings..democrats are going after the guns, that won't stop the shootings.
what will stop the school shootings ??? 1. pass a law forcing all gun owners to buy a heavy duty gun box and keep all guns lock up 24-7..keep a hand gun out for home security, but if you go out ? lock up the all the guns 24 -7..
2. armed guards in all schools..3. medal detectors----4. bullet proof all school first floor windows and doors----keep all school doors locked up. 5. cameras all around the schools.....that is going to cost some money but it will keep kids safe 99 %, is obvious why they are going after the guns, it won't cost as much.

Before being stopped by armed officer at school? I thought that was only a wing nut solution? You mean it worked and somebody is reporting the story?

I don't believe mandating armed guards is the answer. There are 2 better solutions:
1. Allow any teacher or staff member that wants to have conceal carry to do so once trained. You could even only allow biometric triggers for those staff members.
2. Place weapons in safes in strategic locations around the school. Train the staff on their usage.

KEIS Project. the issue of school shootings has plagued this country for years. the federal government in a response to the Columbine school shooting worked with the FBI and Mary Ellen O'tool to create 'Threat Assessment a school shooter prospective' but this was not a full solution. the Federal Government then gathered members of the National Education Department and the Secret Service (the guys that are responsible for protecting the President of the United States) to attend a symposium in Lees Berg Virginia to create a solution they created the 'Safe School Initiative' this document was created to address what was called 'targeted violence' such as former threats that were made against the President of the United States. While a noteworthy solution, most professional educators don't even know of the existence of this document or let alone how to employ it. the real joke is this cost the overburdened American tax payer over 3 billion dollars for a solution that nobody knows about and that they have no training on how to assess for such threats.

KEIS Project. the true reality is that school shootings are rare they have a statistical likelihood of occurrence that is one in one million but the reality of the threat is much greater. The Journal of Adolescent and Pediatric Medicine did a study in the 50 days that followed the Columbine shooting expecting 3 threats of school shooting to develop. the one school district had 354 in 50 days that is better than 7 threats a day. So schools are responding with metal detectors and armed guards as a solution. This will only make matters worse. shooting a gun on a range is one thing but shooting in a combat situation is something completely different. by arming our school personnel with guns we will be facing worse episodes of violence and shooting, and even if you remove all the guns people who want to create an act of violence will always find a way.
