Police Blotter: Retail Theft, Aggravated Assault Arrests
The Vernon Hills Police Department reports arrests from Nov. 26 through Dec. 2.
These incidents were among the official reports of the Vernon Hills Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that decision.
Retail Theft
Two individuals were charged with retail theft Nov. 26 at Sears, 2 Hawthorn Center. Arrested were: Brenda M. Watrach, 18, of 1034 N. Hermitage, Chicago; and Kelsey D. Gold, 19, of 675 Greenview Lane, Wheeling. They were also cited for possession of stolen property. They were both released on a notice to appear in court on Dec. 13.
A 15-year-old girl was charged with retail theft Nov. 28 at Icing, 619 Hawthorn Center. Police said she left the store without paying for almost $13 worth of jewelry.
A 16-year-old girl was charged with retail theft Dec. 1 at Carson Pirie Scott, 3 Hawthorn Center. Police said she left the store without paying for $12 worth of clothing and food. She was released on a notice to appear in court Jan. 10.
Two individuals were charged with retail theft Dec. 2 at JC Penney, 4 Hawthorn Center. Arrested were Tori D. Johnson, 18, of 15365 W. Rockland Lane, Libertyville, and a 17-year-old boy. Police said they left the store without paying for $46 worth of jewelry and makeup. They were released on a notice to appearing court on Jan. 10.
Theft
Bela Gathy, 68, of 55 Old Mill Grove Road, Lake Zurich, was charged with theft Nov. 28 at Jared Jewelers, 567 E. Townline Road. Police said he admitted to taking several pieces of scrap metal. He was released on a notice to appear in court Dec. 13.
Quinesha A. Curry, 25, of 1810 Victoria Ave., North Chicago, was charged with theft Nov. 28 at Macy's, 1 Hawthorn Center. Police said she left the store without paying for a Coach purse and wallet. She was released on a $1,500 recognizance bond pending a Dec. 11 court date.
Diego J. Sarabia, 19, of 455 N. Greenview Ave., Mundelein, was charged with theft Dec. 1 at Toys R Us, 555 E. Townline Road. Police said he left the store without paying for nearly $550 worth of Apple products. He was released on a $150 cash bond pending a Dec. 21 court date.
Aggravated Assault
Dennis W. Fischer, 36, of 510 Saddlebrook Lane, Vernon Hills, was charged with aggravated assault Nov. 30 near Lakeview Parkway and Townline Road. He was also cited for improper lane usage. He was released on a $1,500 recognizance bond pending a Dec. 20 court date.
Mob Action
Three individuals were charged with mob action Dec. 1 on the 900 block of Cherry Valley Road. Arrested were: Daniel Gomez, 18, of 116 Linden Ave., Mundelein; Alfredo Maldonado, 19, of 311 McKinley Ave., Mundelein; and a 16-year-old boy. The 16-year-old was also cited for violating curfew. All three were released on a notice to appear in court on Jan. 10.
