Police Blotter: Retail Theft, Curfew Violation Arrests

The Vernon Hills Police Department reports arrests from July 25-28.

These incidents were among the official reports of the Vernon Hills Police Department. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that decision.

Retail Theft

Stephanie Garcia, 20, of 1204 Lincoln St., North Chicago, was charged with retail theft July 25 at Sears, 2 Hawthorn Center. Police said she left the store without paying for just over $35 in merchandise. She was released on a notice to appear in court Sept. 13.

Christopher E. Carlsen, 21, of 201 Goodwin Place, Mundelein, was charged with retail theft July 27 at Walmart, 555 Townline Road. Police said he left the store without paying for nearly $54 in Pokemon trading cards. He was released on a notice to appear in court Sept. 13.

Alma D. Lopez, 36, of 305 Hickory, Mundelein, was charged with retail theft July 27 at Sears, 2 Hawthorn Center. Police said she left the store without paying for nearly $61 worth of clothing. She was released on a notice to appear in court Sept. 13.

A 16-year-old boy was charged with retail theft July 28 at JC Penney, 4 Hawthorn Center. Police said he left the store without paying for $50 jeans. He was released on a notice to appear in court Sept. 13.

Curfew

Four boys, ages 14-16, were charged with violating curfew July 28 at 7-Eleven, 145 W. Townline Road. They were released on a notice to appear in court Sept. 13.

Obstructing

Juan Ramirez, 56, of 808 Cummings, Waukegan, was charged with obstructing July 28 near Lakeview Parkway and Phillip Road after police said he left the scene of an accident and then gave a false name to an officer. He was cited for not having insurance, not having a valid drivers license, improper lane usage, leaving the scene of an accident and three counts of not having child restraints. He was released on a $2,000 recognizance bond pending an Aug. 13 court date.
