Pro Baseball Pick 'Em Contest Winner Announced

Patch user "mp" guessed that the teams would combined for 33 runs, two fewer than the actual total of 35.

Editor's note: Due to an oversight, the winner of this contest was incorrectly announced on Tuesday. We sincerely regret the error.

It shouldn’t be surprising that most entrants in Patch’s Pro Baseball Pick ‘Em Contest did not give the batters enough credit in making their selections.

Milwaukee outscored Chicago 18-17 in the three-game series over the weekend, and few participants counted on 35 total runs from the teams battling for last place in the division.

By guessing the teams would score 33 runs (Brewers 19, Cubs 14), Patch user "mp" was chosen to win the $100 gift card good for pro baseball apparel.

Thanks to everyone who participated. Enjoy the rest of the baseball season!

hi, people! something looks very fishy bout this contest. i WAS the other winner or i should say i was the ONLY winner. i read thru ALL the entries posted for the scores and i Was the only person who put a prediction score of 32. hmmm??? i read thru several times and did NOT even see this guy, gary zambo's name, anywhere on the entries i've e-mail the patch editor, cristel, and haven't had a reply/explaination to this. think somebody out there can tell me what happenned here? am i missing something? boy, was i excited on sun., watching the game.scores and knew i couldn't loose. 31 runs was the closest to me. take a look for yourself. they posted 19 entries. and none of them was this gary zambo fellow.i'm gonna keep looking into this. i never win "Jack"!!! anyone have any idea how i can figure this out, please? thanks if you can. wm. muller

Hi William,

The winner was selected among all submissions from the Chicagoland and Milwaukee area. Our sites can only link to other Patches in the immediate area, so not all of the submissions were visible on this site. You can find some of the other submissions at http://muskego.patch.com/articles/pro-baseball-pick-em-contest-winner-announced and http://evanston.patch.com/articles/contest-guess-scoring-outcome-in-milwaukee-chicago-series-to-win-100-gift-card-83093a42#pdf-9650046 The original winner was named based on a random drawing. However, we learned that there was a correction made this week to the winner, as one of the Wisconsin contestants actually guessed 33 runs. This story has been updated to reflect that.

Thanks for playing. And, as they say, there's always next year!

(if you actually exist!) NOW, bring on the next contest. i believe in the Cubbies. they can win. so why not me, someday. and don't screw it up this time. OK? ;)

That was actually the Wisconsin story that announced the winner. If you click the link to the contest page (http://muskego.patch.com/articles/contest-guess-scoring-outcome-in-milwaukee-chicago-series-to-win-100-gift-card) you'll see the entries. Sorry for the confusion!
