Leprechaun Trapping at Rockland

For the past 10 years, Rockland School students have attempted to capture a leprechaun on St Patrick's day. With the help of their parents and teachers, the students devise and build their own traps in the hopes of winning the pot of gold.

Understanding that leprechauns are mischievous, and never do what they are told, the students bait the traps with candy, gold coins, and signs proclaiming "No Gold Here!" and "Leprechauns Not Allowed."

Apart from the obvious financial gain, the students also learn about folklore, tradition, and geography.

To this day, there has never been a successful capture. Last years attempt came close, but the leprechaun escaped when the students weren't looking. Judging by the traps, it may just happen this year.

Well, we did it again! We managed to catch a leprechaun in Kindergarten! But alas, he outsmarted us and got away! Once again, in his trail, he left a huge mess to show his anger at being caught. He took all our gold to add to his stash, as well! So if anyone does catch him, he is sure to have a very large pot of gold!!! He left us a letter and his address, so we wrote to him and shared our feelings about the mess and our missing gold! Maybe next year......

So sorry to hear that! I'll be on the look out for him today (and of course, his pot of gold). Thank you all for sharing your wonderful devices with Patch!
