Snow Blower Etiquette in Libertyville: What Times of Day Are Appropriate to Snow Blow?
Snow blowers are extremely helpful after a big storm, but they can also be very noisy. How late is too late and how early is too early to use the machines?
With snowfalls averaging 1 to 2 inches per hour Tuesday, Libertyville residents will likely be using their snow blowers over the next couple days.
Patch wants to know: How late is too late to snow blow your property and how early is too early?
We posed the “snow blower etiquette” question to our Facebook fans Monday and here’s what residents had to say:
Off by 10, not on before 6 work day, 9 weekend seems reasonable to me...
Eh, I tend to give people a break on this. I assume people snowblow when they can. A snow plow is more likely to wake me up, but still it must be done.
Anyone who is willing to clear my driveway can do so WHENEVER THEY WANT!
I guess it doesn't matter if you help your neighbors.

The hours suggested are reasonable, but most neighbors are willing to accept an extra early cleaning if within a few blocks of the train station. It beats walking on the street.

My neighbor clears his snow with a blower at 4:30 am. :-(

I live across the street from a church. They had their snow blowers going at 3 am. Really?

I cannot believe that anyone would snowblow their driveway any earlier than they needed to. That is not exactly a winter sport activity. Before we were retired, my husband would do the driveway at 5:30 or 6 am before he left for work. Now it is much later as we usually just plan to stay in.
