Updated: Trees Are Down Around Libertyville

UPDATED 11:30 a.m., July 12

The free standing solar panel that blew off during the storm at was covered by insurance and no one was reported injured, according to Robin Kollman, public relations facilitator, Libertyville Elementary District 70.

Patch contributor Scott Metzger reported that at least five trees are down around Libertyville.

Metzger and Casey Karl of MetroAlive.com both sent in photos of trees down along Cook Avenue and in .

Karl also posted on Facebook that a power line is down in the parking lot near Caribou Coffee, 725 N. Milwaukee Avenue.

Around noon Sunset Foods posted on Facebook that they have lost power in Libertyville.

On Twitter, user @sth749 says he saw a tree down across Dawes Street in the block between Rockland Road and Crane Boulevard. @Ason98519 says a huge spruce tree was uprooted in someone's front yard on West Street. @PIKture_It says there is no power in Interlaken Ridge at Butterfield and Winchester roads.

On Facebook, The Chapel, 1200 American Way, Libertyville, posted that the power is out at its main technology building.

Michael Ways also posted on Facebook that there is no power in Green Oaks along Atkinson Road.

Earlier this morning, the National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning lasting until 8:30 a.m.

The NWS said the severe thunderstorms can produce damaging winds, large hail, deadly lightning and very heavy rain.

The warning is for Lake, Cook, DuPage and Will counties, northeastern Kendall County and northwestern Lake County in northwest Indiana.

The NWS issued this statement on its website: “At 7:42 a.m. CDT, the National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a line of severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds in excess of 60 miles per hour. These storms were located along a line extending from Twin Lakes to Wauconda to Wayne to Sugar Grove and moving east at 70 miles per hour.”
