Known for her blend of folk songs and contemporary themes, Collins has enjoyed a career that has spanned over 50 years. The concert featured senior concerto winner Taylor Isberg on Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto. Other works to included Vivaldi’s “Summer” Concerto with senior soloists.

Special Guest Instructors Coming to Dancenter North

Professional dancers that have been featured in the Milwaukee Ballet and have performed with the likes of Beyonce will serve as special guest instructors at Dancenter North next month.

Ballet and jazz students will have the unique opportunity to get inspired by dance masters with Dancenter North's unique classes next month. Registration is now being accepted for Ballet Inspiration, to be held June 3 and 5. The cost is $25 per class, or $45 for two classes. Instructors include Courtney Kramer and Marc Petrocci. Kramer is in her eighth season with the Milwaukee Ballet and has enjoyed dancing in many roles choreographed by Michael Pink, Matthew Neenan, Lila York and many others. Petrocci is in his tenth season at the Milwaukee Ballet as a principal dancer. D128 Students Score Big at State Championships

Congratulations to Libertyville and Vernon Hills High School students who excelled in math and music at recent state competitions. Way to represent!

Students from Libertyville High School and Vernon Hills High School scored big at Saturday's Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics (ICTM) State Math Contest Finals at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. The LHS team took first place in its division while the VHHS team placed second. In fine arts, the LHS Wind Ensemble and the VHHS Wind Ensemble were each named Honor Band in their divisions at the Illinois SuperState Concert Band Festival, also held at the University of Illinois. CLC Presents 'Fear No Art' this Weekend

The College of Lake County in Grayslake presents a visual showcase of art, dance and music at the James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts through Sunday.

For 15 years, the College of Lake County’s "Fear No Art" production has showcased a variety of arts, including dance, music and visual art, by CLC students and faculty and community members. This year, the event will be performed at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Mainstage Theatre of the James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts, 19351 W. Washington St., in Grayslake. More than 50 students are involved in the production, which is directed by Valerie Alpert of the CLC dance faculty. Fear No Art will feature the creativity of CLC’s vibrant performing arts community. The dance portion of the program will include exciting original choreography by CLC students and faculty, in modern, hip hop and Bollywood/ballet…

Renowned Jazz Artist Performs at St. Lawrence Sunday

Robin Watson will be the special guest at a free Jazz Vespers program Sunday night at St. Lawrence Episcopal Church in Libertyville.

St. Lawrence Episcopal Church in Libertyville will present a Jazz Vespers service Sunday evening to honor jazz musicians and jazz music in the church. Doors open at 6 p.m. The Libertyville High School Jazz Combo will perform at 6:30 p.m. and  the Vespers service begins at 7 p.m. with special guest artist Robin Watson. Intermixed with the musicians’ music will be a brief liturgy of evening prayer. Watson has appeared at many of Chicago’s premiere jazz venues including Garfield Park Conservatory, United Center, Peninsula Hotel, Metropolitan Club and the Cotton Club. Tickets will go on sale Thursday for all shows at Ravinia in Highland Park this summer. Top Local Artists Get Place in Congress

Congressional award winning art work from area schools will adorn government offices, halls.

Acts of Congress are passed for a variety of reasons and for three award winning North Shore high school artists it means exposure for their creativity. Nicole Otake of Glenbrook North High School, Cullen Casey from Lake Forest High School and Vernon Hills High School’s Kayla Guo were this year’s Congressional Art Competition winners from the 10th District.
