The Brainerd Community Center has launched its very own YouTube channel, BrainerdLibertyville, featuring a series of videos made by McLaren Photographic Inc.. These videos showcase the Brainerd Building, its importance to the community, along with the benefits of creating a community center for the arts in Libertyville.
McLarenPhotographic created a total of twelve short videos, collectively titled “Bricks and Mortar, Heart and Soul.” New videos will be released weekly with each segment focusingon one unique aspect of the Brainerd Building and featuring the building, nostalgic photos, interviews, and performance with community members. The first two videos are currently uploaded for viewing at the BrainerdLibertyville YouTube Channel. Simply go to YouTube and type “BrainerdLibertyville” into the search box.
The first video features Libertyville singer/songwriter Ike Reilly recalling his
days attending high school at Brainerd. The second video currently posted
includes narration by Libertyville resident Jim Moran, who gives an overview
and short history of the building (Delete) interspersed with original photos of
former Brainerd students, including Marlon Brando. Future segments focus on the
performance arts community which would welcome an affordable, available, local
site for theater, dance and music concerts. Future videos will show the current
state of the building and discuss the sustainability of the structure.
