Maybe if you use all caps more people will ignore that just having a gun doesn't 100% preventRead Morecrime. Maybe they will ignore that crime still occurs at very high rates in places like Arizona, Texas, and Florida. Maybe they won't wonder where all your Conceal Carry permit holders were to save this woman, since you have told us crime will slow down. Maybe they will realize that the little boy who was just shot in the city a few days ago by people in a moving van would still be alive, if only he had been carrying a gun. Your solution isn't a solution. It is just saying to let people die.
More 2nd Amendment=More Freedom April 17, 2014 at 10:56 AM
The bottom line is that we have a right to preserve our own lives and protect our families. HowRead Morecan we truly enjoy the blessings of liberty, if we cannot protect our own lives. If we do not possess the inherent right to life and the ability to protect ourselves, then we truly have no rights. In that case, our inalienable rights have been forfeited in favor of those who may do us harm. As a free society, we cannot allow those with a preponderance for criminal behavior to have the upper hand. If we do, this infringes on the very freedoms we hold so dear. In turn, those that have the potential and means to harm us or our families use things such as clubs, knives and guns. Logic would dictate that we should have access to the same means to protect ourselves as those who mean to harm us. As well, the threat of danger may occur outside of your home or property, thus necessitating the need for things like concealed carry. Further, The Supreme Court has recognized and affirmed that, as United States citizens, we do NOT have the Constitutional right to police protection. We cannot expect local police departments to protect us from every situation inside or outside our homes. Therefore, we have the right to defend ourselves and our families with things like clubs, knives and guns (what the bad guys use). This is clearly what the Constitution refers to with respect to guns when it states the "right to keep and bear arms" in the 2nd Amendment. Whatever you think of the NRA or the gun industry does not change our basic right to self protection. It also does not alter a man's right to freedom and self-defense. No rational human being wants to see a woman assaulted, children's lives threatened or endure severe bodily harm. No rational human being hopes to use deadly force against another. However, as a free society, we must ensure the right of each mentally-competent adult citizen to protect themselves, their friends and neighbors, their freedoms, and/or or their families.

The 2nd begins A Well Regulated.... Guns in the USA are not well regulated when over 31,000 peopleRead Mored ie and over 100,000 people are seriously wounded each year from gun mayhem. The people who die and their loved ones are not ever free of, or happy about, the damage done by unregulated guns. The bottom line is that our gun policies and our courts are responsible for over 1 million deaths and over 4 million serious wounds caused by guns since 1960. This beastly carnage must stop. To justify this lack of respect for human beings is pure lunacy, and it shows that this country values guns more than people. When the NRA has a gun appreciation celebration day after the slaughter at Sandy Hook, and 5 NRA members are shot at gun shows, one has to really wonder if any of these people have any common sense at all. If these are the people who are defending their homes with guns, it’s no wonder that having a gun in the home makes it 12 times more likely that a person in that home will be killed by a gun, versus a home without a gun.

15 Murders and 35 people wounded in Chicago this weekend and not a one of them caused by an NRARead MoreMemb er, FOID Card holder or CCL License holder, Hmmm. Those criminal Gang Members just will not stop shooting each other and other people too! Now we have arrested most of them at least 4 times and they just won't pay any attention to the GFZ signs or Safe Passage signs that we put up!

Gerald - Dan is a round lake resident who doesn't view Libertyville as Dodge City, but rather heRead Moreado res Libertyville and supports our local business weekly by eating at Burt's and driving into our village for all his rental car needs. We thank him for his support!! He just is a bit leery of places like picnic basket and Foss swim school because he is fearful that the bad guys are just waiting to get him. I met plenty of people who are afraid of rollar coasters and flying and with positive support and professional help they were able to get over these fears and live productive lives. I pray that Dan will someday experience this as well.

I will exercise my Second Amendment Rights and I will be in Libertyville to go where I wish.Read MoreBusines ses with a GFZ sign are few and far between... so I simply go where people are not afraid of a law abiding citizen exercising their rights. Perhaps you and the folks at the Picnic basket... will seek help with your irrational fears.
