Every week Patch will profile an outstanding athlete.In a recent home meet vs. Palatine, Morgan Dickson of Libertyville High School's girls swim team set the school pool record in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:54.49. Dickson has started out the season with top finishes at both the Lake County Meet and the Glenbrook North Invite. The girls swimming and diving team will be in action again this Thursday at Mundelein High School. Information provided by Libertyville High School. Regardless of whether Libertyville High School volleyball player Kerry Risley chooses Butler University or St. Louis University, she will leave Libertyville with plenty good memories of athletics at the high school. "Last year was amazing,'' Risley said. "We were 35-3." Risley also saw playing time for the special girls basketball team that won 29 games in a row last winter. Of course his last name fits perfectly for the position he plays. Libertyville High School junior Brian Swift is just that. He’s swift through the holes and is able to sprint to open territory. The second week of Libertyville‘s athletes of the week was highlighted by this junior’s selection. Naturally, the running back gave full credit to those big players blocking for him. On Sept. 2, he ran for 176 yards and a pair of touchdowns in Libertyville‘s 24-0 win over Urban Prep. “My line gives me holes,” Swift said. “And I just run through them. Let's be honest. Alex Quenan clearly was a member of the Libertyville boys golf team the last few years, but he wasn't making headlines every week. That is until now. To put it mildly, he might be Lake County's hottest golfer. "It's been fantastic,'' said Libertyville golf coach Sean Matthews. "He's really gone out and started competing."
