DESCRIPTION:The Buffalo Grove Symphonic and Jazz Bands will be performing
  "BIG BAND CLASSICS" at Libertyville High School on Saturday Evening\, N
 ovember 10 at 7 PM - just a short jaunt away from our home base in Buffa
 lo Grove.\nBy &ldquo\;branching out&rdquo\; into surrounding nearby comm
 unities\, the Band hopes to make many new friends and fans in addition t
 o those of you who have already heard and come to love one of the finest
  Community Bands in the area!This Fall&rsquo\;s concert theme is &ldquo\
 ;Big Band Classics&rdquo\;. This is not just music that comes from the A
 merican popular jazz style of &ldquo\;Big Bands&rdquo\; from the 1930&rs
 quo\;s-through today\, but also established and destined-to-become class
 ics of the Symphonic Band Literature that are written on a grand scale. 
 &nbsp\;For those who are familiar with that style of composition we hope
  you will revisit old friends in our performance of the Holst Second Sui
 te and George Washington Bridge. Slava will amuse and entertain you in a
  manner that only Leonard Bernstein can with a mix of Vaudeville\, Broad
 way\, and Symphonic style all compressed into 3 minutes! The Symphonic B
 and&rsquo\;s performance will be rounded out with the poignancy of Eric 
 Whitacre&rsquo\;s lovely &ldquo\;October&rdquo\; and our concluding numb
 er &ndash\; the by turns transcendental and powerful &ldquo\;Give Us Thi
 s Day&rdquo\; by David Maslanka.The Jazz Band will entertain you tonight
  with Duke Ellington&rsquo\;s seminal &ldquo\;Cottontail&rdquo\;.&nbsp\;
  Also\, Conductor and Clarinetist Howard Green will &ldquo\;front&rdquo\
 ; the group on Artie Shaw&rsquo\;s wonderful swing-based Clarinet Concer
 to. Not to be outdone on the Big Band score by their Jazz Band colleague
 s the flutes\, clarinets\, oboes\, horns\, bassoons\, and euphoniums wil
 l join them for the wonderful Warren Barker arrangement of In the Miller
  Mood where EVERYONE will swing. By all means\, please share this with y
