Lake Shore Lynx Take Care of Business in Crystal Lake

The Lake Shore Lynx defeated the Fox Valley Premier in a rematch of the 2010 Gridiron Football League Championship game.

In a rematch of the 2010 Gridiron Football League Championship, the Lake Shore Lynx traveled to Crystal Lake, Ill., to battle the Fox Valley Premier.  This season’s Lynx team featured a few more weapons than in years past and beat the home team 48 to 6.

Over the past three championship seasons, the Lynx have been known for their power running game.  On Friday night it was an all out aerial assault.

Lynx quarterback Kraig Ladd threw 31 times for more than 330 yards passing and scrambled three times for 48 yards on the ground.  Ladd connected with his receivers for five touchdowns on the night.

“Credit for tonight’s win goes to the offensive line and receivers,” said Ladd.  “Those guys came out very focused and played terrific football.”

While the offense was extremely strong, the Lynx defense continued to shock the GFL with their dominance.

The Premier did manage to score the first touchdown against the Lynx this season, but it was a small victory on a difficult night.  The Lynx defensive line was credited with 6 sacks on the night and the Premier only completed 12 of their 40 passes on the evening.

Lynx lineman and defensive coordinator Dan Nikolich said, “Our guys really got after it tonight and set the tone early.  If we keep playing this well I predict a few more shut outs in the coming weeks.”

Friday night’s game began a string of games where the Lynx face 2010 playoff teams in five out of 6 match ups.

Next Friday’s game versus the South Milwaukee Rage looks like it maybe the toughest of the early season for the Lynx.  Last season the Lynx defeated the Rage by one touchdown in the playoffs.  For the past two seasons, the Rage have been credited with the most prolific offense in the GFL.  All of this points to the potential for a terrific football game in Libertyville.

As always the Lynx invite the public to attend their free home games and enjoy the family friendly environment.  Friday’s game will begin at 8:00 PM at Butler Lake Park in Libertyville.
