Lake Shore Lynx Top Lake County Cowboys and Remain Perfect

Lake Shore Lynx remain undefeated after beating the highly touted Lake County Cowboys.

Friday night the Lake Shore Lynx and Lake County Cowboys faced off in a battle touted as the biggest game of the year for the Gridiron Football League.  A hard hitting affair ended with the Lynx on top 28 – 12.

The contest began with the Cowboy’s deep passing attack opening a 12 point lead in the first 15 minutes.  Fortunately the veteran Lynx defense made a few adjustments and took over the rest of the game.

“A.G. (Lynx CB Albert Greene) played an amazing game,” says Lynx founder Mike Johnson.  “He stepped up and shut down their top receiver.  Add the two interceptions and one touchdown by Roman Hunter and you saw some terrific pass defense today.”

The Lynx offense was not firing on all cylinders in this contest.  QB Kraig Ladd and his receivers appeared to be a bit out of sync most of the game.  The Cowboys also deserves credit for playing a physical and aggressive defense.  Ultimately Ladd and the Lynx offense were able to click on enough plays to reach the end zone three times.

“We were a bit sloppy today,” says Lynx tackle and team president Mike Sloan.  “But credit to our quarterback and receivers for adjusting and getting on the same page.  It is our ability to overcome the bad games that make us better as a team.”

These two teams have been bitter rivals throughout the first five years of the GFL.  This match-up featured big hits and some uncharacteristic personal foul penalties for both teams. The remaining question is whether these two foes will meet again in the playoffs.

The Lynx will face McHenry County’s, Fox Valley Premier this Friday night.  Game time is slated for 8:00 PM at Butler Lake Park in Libertyville.   As always, the Lynx invite the public to attend the game and enjoy the family friendly atmosphere.

This weekend the Lynx will also be volunteering their time to help the Libertyville Boys Club Football program distribute and fit kid’s equipment for the upcoming football season.  The Lynx will also be hosting a low-cost football camp for LBC players on July 23, 2011.

The Lake Shore Lynx are a not for profit, semi-professional, eight-man tackle football team.  Based in Libertyville, Ill., the Lynx are the three-time defending champions of the 16 team, Gridiron Football League, covering northern Illinois and southeastern Wisconsin.  For the 2011 season, the Lake Shore Lynx charitable efforts will benefit the Libertyville Boys Club youth football program.
