Lynx and Kenosha Cougars to meet in the GFL Championship

Lake Shore Lynx to face Kenosha Cougars in the GFL Championship on Friday night

A few rain showers and a lightning siren may have slowed the Lake Shore Lynx offense, but it wasn’t enough to keep the Chicago Chaos in the playoff game.  It was clear all night that the Lynx superior athletes were fired up and ready to play football.  The 25-6 final score is not indicative of the dominance by the Lynx, but rather how wet the playing conditions were.

The victory over the Chaos brings the Lynx to the chance for redemption.  The Lynx have only lost the GFL Championship once and that was to the Kenosha Cougars in year number one.

“I will never forget the pain and frustration of losing the championship in that first year,” says Lynx team president Mike Sloan.  “I have been focused on revenge since that day and I am excited for the opportunity.”

This match-up features two of the three highest scoring offenses in the GFL as well as the top two defenses in the league.  In short, there is going to be a lot of potential for big plays in this game.

Led by GFL Offensive MVP quarterback Kraig Ladd, the Lake Shore offense has provided dozens of highlights this season and 389 points.  This week the Cougars second ranked defense will have their work cut out for them.

“This is why we are here, to dominate for the fourth straight season,” says Ladd.  “Every game before this doesn’t matter.  It is about taking care of business in one game, for the top prize.  Every mistake will be magnified, as will be every big play.  I can’t wait for this one!”

Friday, August 19 at 8:30 PM the Lynx will host the Cougars for the GFL Championship at Butler Lake Park, in Libertyville.  Admission is free and the Lynx invite the public to join them for the game.

The Lake Shore Lynx are a not for profit, semi-professional, eight-man tackle football team.  Based in Libertyville, Ill., the Lynx are the three-time defending champions of the 16 team, Gridiron Football League, covering northern Illinois and southeastern Wisconsin.  For the 2011 season, the Lake Shore Lynx charitable efforts will benefit the Libertyville Boys Club youth football program.
