Adler Center Welcomes New Music Faculty

Three new musicians to join the David Adler Music and Arts Center Faculty.

The David Adler Music and Arts Center in Libertyville is proud to welcome three new Music Instructors to their ever growing faculty.  The three to join the Adler Center family include; Michael Egan (Guitar), Julia Stampfl (Voice) and Suzanne Whitney (Voice).

Egan has studied classical guitar under- “one of America’s finest and most respected classical guitarists”-Joseph Breznikar, at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Egan has experience as a performer, composer, teacher, and arranger for the classical guitar. He has experience teaching music at Thomas Elementary and Tri-C elementary schools. He also has experience teaching the Suzuki method.

Egan is committed to preserving the traditions of the classical guitar, as well as the advancement and stature of the instrument. He hopes to continue the legacy left by the great Andres Segovia.

Stampfl is a mezzo-soprano from Kenosha, Wisconsin. Stampfl received her Bachelors of Arts degree in Vocal Performance from Carthage College. She will be attending the Chicago College of Performing Arts as a Voice Performance major in The Music Conservatory’s Master of Music program. At Carthage, Stampfl actively performed in the opera workshop productions, including Menotti’s, Old Maid and the Thief, and Mozart’s, The Marriage of Figaro. She sang in the Carthage Concert Choir, and was also a member of the Lincoln Chamber Singers, performing at a number of local venues and events. Stampfl is also an accomplished pianist, and has participated in numerous regional and statewide competitions.

Whitney grew up in Glenview, Illinois. She received a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from Illinois Wesleyan University, where she studied with Dr. Sam Scifres. She is also an alumna of the opera studio at the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria. While at Illinois Wesleyan, Whitney was participated in seven Illinois Wesleyan Opera Theatre productions and two productions with Prairie Fire Theatre (a local opera company in Bloomington-Normal). She performed roles such as Cherubino in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro, The Sorceress in Purcell’s Dido and Aenas, and The Fairy Queen in Gilbert and Sullivan’s Iolanthe. She also had the great privilege to be in the world premiere of Dr. David Vayo’s Opera Fertile Ground. She has studied vocal instruction and Alexander Technique with Dr. Carren Mohan. Whitney has a strong focus on teaching both singing and acting together.
