Advocate Condell golf outing raises funds for Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner program

Advocate Condell Medical Center recently hosted the 31st Annual Penny Schachner Memorial Golf Open at the Ivanhoe Golf Club.

Advocate Condell Medical Center recently hosted the 31st Annual Penny Schachner Memorial Golf Open at the Ivanhoe Golf Club. Proceeds from the event benefited Condell’s Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) program.

Over 100 golfers participated in the open, which raised $84,265 in gross revenue. The event was presented by the Auxiliary and Volunteers in Partnership of Advocate Condell Medical Center. Golf committee chairman Bob Schachner and committee members Jim Zils, Martha Jurecko, Jay Cash and Ajay Madhani, MD, attended.

“The 2012 golf open was incredibly successful,” said Tamara Darr, development coordinator of the Advocate Charitable Foundation. “Every year the proceeds from this event benefit a different priority program at Advocate Condell. The SANE nurses work diligently to provide compassionate and quality care for their patients. It was an honor to be a part of an event that helps make their work possible.”

The profits from this event will fund the training and certification of SANE nurses, as well as help provide patients with state-of-the-art forensic and medical technology. Advocate Condell Medical Center is the only hospital in the Lake County Area that provides an on-call SANE nurse 24 hours a day. Recent research from the Illinois Attorney General’s office indicates that SANE nurse programs decrease patients’ likelihood of re-traumatization and improves the quality of the forensic evidence gathered.
