Second year for Advocate Condell 'Rocks the Cure' benefit concert

On Saturday, April 5, at Austin’s Fuel Room in Libertyville, Advocate Condell Medical Center will be hosting “Advocate Condell Rocks the Cure 2”—a concert to benefit its Cancer Institute, featuring two bands with executive members from Advocate Health Care and Advocate Condell Medical Center.

This is the second year that the hospital has held the concert, which was the brainchild of Scott Powder, senior vice president of strategic growth and planning at Advocate Health Care and Matt Primack, vice president of clinical institutes and business development at Advocate Condell. Both executives play guitar in rock bands in their free time. Last year’s concert sold out 750 tickets, and featured “Biggest Loser” winner Danni Allen.

“It was such an incredible experience last year,” said Primack. “To see so many community members, Associates and physicians come out to support this great cause was really heartening. We knew we had to do it again this year.”

Primack is a Chicago resident whose band, McLovin, has played charity and fundraising events in Chicago for over 5 years. Powder, a Vernon Hills resident whose band Mid Life Crisis will also play the event, added, “We are really looking forward to another great night of live music, and hope to see as many community members out to support this tremendous cause.”

Proceeds from the event will benefit Advocate Condell’s Cancer Institute program, which provides a full spectrum of cancer care services to the communities of Lake County. To purchase tickets, visit www.advocatehealth.com/rocks-the-cure or call 847.990.5843.
