CYN hosts 11th Annual TAKE A STEP FOR KIDS 5K/10K Run & 5K Walk on Saturday, April 19

In recognition of Child Abuse Prevention Month, Community Youth Network plans: Take a Step for Kids 5K/10K Run & 5K Walk.

On Saturday April 19, during Child Abuse Prevention Month, Community Youth Network will host the 11th Annual Take A Step for Kids 5K/10K Run & 5K Walk.    This family friendly event will be held on the beautiful grounds of Independence Grove in Libertyville, IL.  All proceeds will go directly toward providing counseling services for victims of child abuse in Lake County and the surrounding area.

“The purpose of the event is to promote a healthy mind, body and soul not only for child abuse victims, but also for all the participants who attend and show their support,” states Gail Weil, CYN Executive Director.  “It is a great day filled with community-wide support for victims of child abuse.”

Registration is currently open and will remain open until the morning of the race.   Pre-registration rate is $30 (closes online 11:59 PM on 4/18).  Visit www.takeastepforkids.org to register.  On race day, registration opens at 8:00 AM and costs $35.  The race officially begins at 9:00 AM and post-race festivities hosted by CYN will begin at 10:00 AM.

The race is USATF certified, CARA certified and Chip Timed.  Medals will be awarded to the top 3 finishers in all age categories.

Community Youth Network (CYN) is a local Non-Profit Community Counseling Agency that serves Lake County and surrounding areas.  Annually, CYN assists more than 800 children, families and individuals.  The agency mission is “to preserve and strengthen families while protecting children from abusive and high risk situations”.
