Save-A-Pet's annual Petathlon 3k dog walk is taking place in conjunction with the Dog Days of Summer event in Libertyville on Sunday, July 14th. The Petathlon event involves a 3k walk through downtown Libertyville and a festival in Cook Park. The festival includes live music, adoptable dogs, raffles, dog cooling stations, a pet prize spin wheel, snacks, and more. Registration is open in advance at www.petathlon.org and over the weekend at Save-A-Pet's booths at the Dog Days of Summer event on Saturday the 13th and Sunday the 14th. Packet pick-up opens at 8 AM on Sunday the 14th and Libertyville’s Mayor, Terry Weppler, will be kicking off the walk at 9:30 AM. Walker registration is $35 for adults and $20 for children under 17. All proceeds raised by the Petathlon will benefit Save-A-Pet's no-kill non-profit adoption center in Grayslake, IL.
Save-A-Pet is a sponsor of the Dog Days of Summer event and will be offering pet friendly activities in Cook Park from 10 AM to 5 PM both Saturday the 13th and Sunday the 14th. This includes a Pet Prize Wheel of Fortune, a dog cooling station, and large raffle prizes including an autographed Jonathan Toews jersey, donated by the Chicago Blackhawks. Save-A-Pet will also have a photo booth for families and pets in the park from 11 AM to 2 PM on Sunday the 14th. Save-A-Pet's Petathlon and involvement with the Dog Days of Summer is volunteer driven and organized.
