Lake Villa Man Goes Missing

A 33-year-old Lake Villa man, Nick Steward, went missing Sept. 20 while driving home from work. Friends and family organized searches for the Libertyville High School grad. Police located his vehicle in Vernon Hills Oct. 3, and his body was found in a nearby field. He died of self-inflicted wounds, according to the Lake County coroner.

Woman Goes Missing in Libertyville  

Anne Stroll, 64, of unincorporated Libertyville was reported missing Dec. 2. Stroll had gone out for a bike ride. Police located a body the next day on the 32000 block of North Milwaukee Avenue. The body was later identified as Stroll, and the Lake County coroner reported that she died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Two Words: Trader Joe's

Trader Joe's officials announced in February that a store will be constructed in Libertyville. The 12,500-square-foot store is under construction at 1600 S. Milwaukee Ave. Though Trader Joe's officials have said the store will open sometime in 2014, an exact date has not yet been revealed

Libertyville is Awesome

CNN Money listed Libertyville as No. 22 on its list of the 25 "Best places for the rich and single." According to CNN, Libertyville offers Midwestern charm and "big-city amenities," like a vibrant downtown and plenty of activities. Of course, we all knew that already, didn't we? 

Natural Mosquito Repellants Make Headlines

This one may seem a little strange to include here among the most popular stories, but it indeed was really popular in Libertyville. Jan Leasure's blog about natural mosquito repellants was a hit, possibly because of the heavy rain and flooding earlier this year that gave way to a boom in the mosquito population.
