Church Offers Historic Look at Libertyville

Rare postcards and photographs are on display at St. Lawrence Episcopal Church.

St. Lawrence Episcopal Church is giving residents a glimpse of what Libertyville looked like "back in the day" through an exhibit called "Through Another Lens."

In the church foyer, visitors can view a rare collection of historic Libertyville postcards and photos from Libertyville Township High School from 1946 to 1950.

Exhibit hours are 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. St. Lawrence is located on Church Street next to the Libertyville Civic Center.

The exhibit is sponsored by St. Lawrence Episcopal Church, the Libertyville-Mundelein Historical Society, village trustee Jim Moran, Ace Hardware and MainStreet Libertyville.

The postcards, most of which are at least 100 years old, are from the collection of trustee Jim Moran, who is also vice president of the historical society, according to the Daily Herald.
