'Dog Days of Summer' Return This Week

It's the Dog Days of Summer—and we're not just talking about the weather!

The annual Dog Days of Summer kicks off July 11 in Cook Park and runs through July 14. Not only can you bring your dogs downtown, but your dogs can also compete to win the title of "Libertyville's Big Air Dog." 

Here's a look at what's taking place during this four-day event, courtesy of MainStreet Libertyville and Pampered Pupz:

July 11: 
Noon - Onside registration/practice
2 p.m. - Fun Jump
4 p.m. - Fun Jump

July 12:
Noon - Onsite registration/practice
1 p.m. - Big Air Wave No. 1
2:30 p.m. - Big Air Wave No. 2
4 p.m. - Big Air Wave No. 3
6 p.m. - Opening ceremonies for "Big Air Jump-Off"

July 13: 
9 a.m. - Onsite registration/practice
10 a.m. - Big Air Wave No. 4
Noon - Big Air Wave No. 5
Noon - Lake County Sheriff K-9 Demo
1 p.m. - Doggie Fashion Show, Cook Park
1:30 p.m. - Pet Parade, Cook Park
2 p.m. - Big Air Wave No. 6
2 p.m. - Family/Pup games, Cook Park
2:30 p.m. - Frisbee Dogs, Cook Park
3 p.m. - Rory Tyer Band, Cook Park
4 p.m. - Extreme Vertical Competition

July 14:
9 a.m. - Onsite registration/practice
9-11 a.m. - Breakfast in the Park with Your Pup, Cook Park
9-11 a.m. - Petathlon 3K Dog Walk, Cook Park
10 a.m. - Big Air Wave No. 7
Noon - Big Air Wave No. 8
Noon - Exercise with your pup, Cook Park
1 p.m. - The Dog Pie Hurl, Cook Park
1:30 p.m. - Frisbee Dogs, Cook Park
2:30 p.m. - Speed Retrieve Competition

The Big Air Wave and other competitions will take place in the "X-Treme Dog Park," located in the rear parking lot of PNC Bank.
