Observance of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity Worship Service

All Libertyville area congregations are invited to a prayer service on Sunday, January 22nd at 4 pm, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 29700 N. St Mary's Road, in observance of The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. The theme "We Will Be changed by the Victory of Our Lord Jesus Christ" is taken from I Corinthians 15:51 – 58. The service will include an anthem sung by the combined choirs of participating churches, and the Polish tradition of sharing a special wafer, the "oplatek", as a sign of love, unity and forgiveness. Pastor Dwight Nelson of Libertyville Covenant Church will be the preacher. Members of the various churches will lead in the prayers and Scripture readings. An offering will be taken to benefit the Libertyville Township Food Pantry. There will be a coffee hour following the service. The Graymoor Ecumenical and Interreligious Institute has published the service for the Week of Prayer each year since 1908. The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity invites the whole Christian community throughout the world to pray in communion with the prayer of Jesus "that they all may be one." (John 17:21)
