READ FOR JOY YWCA Lake County Literacy Event at North Chicago Library

This year’s YWCA Read for Joy literacy event goes beyond encouraging parents and children to read together: it makes literacy fun with activities that include rhythm, sound and movement.

Highlighting the event is an African dance  performance by the Najwa Dance Corps at Malcolm X College, based on the book “Chicka Chicka Boom Boom.” The Dance Corps will also provide instruction in African dance to the participants.

“This year, families will also take part in arts and crafts activities to make musical instruments,” said Joy Bah, director of YWCA Parent Services.
