Flooding Concerns Continue Along Des Plaines River

Have you seen any flooding in your neighborhood?

Parts of Lake County are under a flood advisory or flood warning as water levels on the Des Plaines River continue to rise.

As of 1 p.m. Friday, the Des Plaines River in Gurnee was at 6.94 feet, up from Thursday's level of 6 feet. The flood stage in Gurnee is 7 feet. Flood warnings have been issued for the Des Plaines River in both Gurnee and Russell.

There is also a flood advisory in effect for the Des Plaines River in Lincolnshire, where the water level was at 11.29 feet—just shy of the 11.5-foot flood stage—as of 1 p.m. Friday.

The Lake County Forest Preserve reported that several trail underpasses are temporarily closed due to flooding. Those underpasses are located at Routes 120, 132, 137, 176 and 60, along with Deerfield Road.
