  • Where/When: 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12 at Talent Forum, 450 Peterson Road, Libertyville
  • Why Go?: Tap Jam 2011 features many premier selections of dynamic choreography by Talent Forum's own Footprints Tap Ensemble.  This year's remarkable, special guest artist is Max Pollak.  He is an originator of Rumba Tap.  We also welcome Cait Jones and Mark Yonally, along with the incredible style of Chicago Tap Theatre.  This will be a night filled with exciting rhythms.  Tickets are available for purchase at Talent Forum, 450 Peterson Road, Libertyville.  A limited number of tickets may be available at the event, but purchase early to guarantee your admission.

  • Where/When: 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12 at Improv Playhouse, 735 N Milwaukee Ave., Libertyville
  • Why Go?: This is a family friendly sketch and games based show in the style of "Whose Line..." and Chicago Improv featuring the hilarious Improv Comedy Troupe "Lost Not Stolen".
  • Pricing: $7 general admission; $5 for Improv Playhouse students.

  • Where/When: 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12 at BeWell Fitness, 1753 Northwind Blvd., Libertyville
  • Why Go?: BeWell Fitness is hosting a charity workout for the Hope Food Pantry. Thanksgiving is weeks away and it is a time that we give thanks and reflect on how fortunate we are to have what we have in our lives. There are people without jobs, homes and food for their kids. You can help! If you can make it this Saturday, great! Your entry to the workout is a donation. If you can't, you can still send a donation and help that way.

  • Where/When: 9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12 at Adlai Stevenson Center on Democracy, 25200 N. Saint Marys Road, Libertyville.
  • Why Go?: Karen AbuZayd will speak about the plight and promise of refugees caught in the 'Arab Spring.' Ms. AbuZayd is the recently retired Commissioner General of UNRWA (United Nations Relief and Works Agency), winner of a 2010 Spanish/Catalonia Peace Prize and a 2011 Golden Award with Star for Service to the Austrian Federal Republic. In her distinguished UN career, she oversaw education, health, social services and micro finance operations for UNRWA and emergency and repatriation operations for UNHCR in Namibia, Sierra Leone, Kenya, Somalia and South Africa. She also served as the UNHCR Chief of Mission in Sarajevo during the Bosnian war.

Veteran’s Day Assembly

  • Where/When: 9:15 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11 at , 565 Frederick Road, Grayslake.
  • Why Go?: Frederick School will be hosting its very first Veteran's Day Assembly to honor our veterans in the community, as well as the family members of our students who may be veterans. 
  • All veterans are welcome to join us as we celebrate their service in past and present wars. We want to show our appreciation for their sacrifices and their families who have been left behind. We also want to educate our students on what the meaning of Veteran's Day is and how we need to honor our vets.
  • Pricing: Free.

Grayslake Farmer's Fall/Winter Market

  • Where/When: 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12 at Center Street, Downtown Grayslake.
  • Why Go?: Eat local, eat fresh at the Grayslake Fall/Winter Farmer's Market. The market offers wine, fresh baked goods, appetizers, gourmet cheeses, organic meats, floral arrangements and even homemade candles in addition to local produce. A Farmers Market Cookbook which provides local recipes and is an ideal gift for food lovers is also available for purchase.

National Gaming Day @ Your Library

  • Where/When: 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12 at Grayslake Area Public Library, 100 Library Lane.
  • Why Go?: Looking for a place to hang out and have fun with your friends or family?  Read, learn, play during National Gaming Day @ your library. On Saturday, November 12, the Grayslake Area Public Library will host plugged and unplugged gaming programs to celebrate our national love of video and board games. This is a free event for all ages.
  • Pricing: Free.

Doll Up and Dine at The Vine to benefit The Oasis

  • Where/When: 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 14 at The Vine, 101 Center St, Grayslake.
  • Why Go?: Kick off the holiday season with lunch or dinner at The Vine. Get dolled up at Ashley Alwin the same day - they have Oasis Specials - and join us for food and fun at The Vine. Both businesses will donate a portion of all sales that day to The Oasis. 
  • Pricing: Free.

Celebrate 100 years of the Great Lakes Naval Station

  • Where/When: 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at Great Lakes Naval Museum, 610 Farragut Ave., North Chicago.
  • Why Go?:   will note the 100th anniversary of Great Lakes Naval Base in the military facility's museum on Saturday, Nov. 12, a day after Veterans Day. The Program begins at 10 a.m. and includes both a lecture and a docent-led tour of the museum's sparkling exhibits tracing the history of the U.S. Navy and the base. Guests should meet directly at the Great Lakes Naval Museum, 610 Farragut Ave
  • Price: The program is free for members of the Historical Society and $15 for non-members. Space is limited and reservations can be made by calling the Lake Forest-Lake Bluff Historical Society at (847) 234-5253.
