Why Go?: Watch the Blackhawks take on the Detroit Redwings and experience all the fun of a home game. Goal celebrations, contests between periods 1 and 2 and a chance to win tickets to the last home game of the season - April 10- against the Redwings. Blackhawks legend Denis Savard will be signing autographs during the intermissions and anthem singer Jim Cornelison will perform. Each of the 500 fans in attendance will receive a Blackhawks rally towel.

Pricing: $10 for adults; $5 for kids ages 18 and under

Where / When:, 135 W. Church St., Libertyville;6:30 - 7:30 p.m., Friday, April 8.

Why Go?: The whole family is invited to participate in this interactive concert led by award-winning musician Jim Gill. Dance, clap and sing along as Jim plays energetic rhythms on his banjo. He will also perform his read-along and sing-along musical books.

Pricing: Free

Where / When: Van Patten Woods, Route 173, East of Route 41, West of Green Bay Rd., Wadsworth; 1 - 3 p.m., Saturday, April 9.

Why Go?: Take a family hike and discover the six different species of squirrel that live in Lake County.

Pricing: $5 per person for Lake County residents; $7 per person for non-residents

Where / When: Center Street in Downtown Grayslake; 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., Saturday, April 9.

Why Go?: Kick off the start of the spring season of the farmers market. Let your kids help you pick out some fresh fruits and vegetables. Buy cheeses, meats, baked goods and flowers too.

Pricing: Free admission

Where / When: Ryerson Woods Welcome Center, 21950 N. Riverwoods Rd., Riverwoods; 8 - 9:30 p.m.; Friday, April 8.

Why Go?: Families with kids over the age of 12 are welcome to come to a short presentation on astronomy, and Einstein's brain bending Theory of Relativity, followed by outdoor sky viewing (if the weather permits).
