Halloween Central: Libertyville and Vernon Hills

In mere weeks, ghosts, witches and other characters will be roaming residential streets in celebration of Halloween. Here's all the information you need to know on events and activities leading up to, on, and right after America's favorite spo

 

The month leading up to Halloween time is one of the busiest times of year, with fall festivals, holiday related events and of course the big day to collect all the candy! Patch has rounded up some events to help make your life a little easier, so you know what's happening in and around town for your children to enjoy!

Trucks, Trunks and Treats at the 635 N. Aspen Dr., Vernon Hills on Saturday, October 13 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Children are invited to trick-or-treat outside in the Sullivan Center parking lot, as area business owners display a number of fun vehicles kids like to see. Treat bags will be provided and refreshments will be available for purchase. Tickets are on sale at the community center and cost $1, children under two years of age are free. Frightfully Fun Fall Fest at the Sullivan Community Center, 635 N. Aspen Dr., Vernon Hills on Friday, October 26 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. The Sullivan Center will be transformed into a Halloween spectacular event with costume contests, face painting, indoor trick-or-treating, magic show and much more. Space is limited and entrance is $1 for children ages two and older prior to the event, and $5 per ticket on October 26. Space is limited, so call 847-367-7270 to reserve your spot.

Halloween Fest at the Libertyville Sports Complex Tuesday, October 30 from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Event includes inflatables, kids fun zone, hayrides, spooky climbing mountain and more. Cost for kids is $5 in advance and $8 at the door. Parents and grandparents are free. The fun is geared toward children 10 and under. Pumpkin Launch at Century Park Sled Hill, 1001 Lakeview Parkway, Vernon Hills on Saturday, November 3 at 11 a.m. The Vernon Hills High School Science Department will be on hand with a trebuchet to launch pumpkins, in addition to rolling and smashing them! One pumpkin per participant. Cost is $2. Registration is limited, call 847-996-6800 for more information. 

Residential Trick-or-Treating on Halloween

In Libertyville and Vernon Hills, residential trick-or-treaters are invited to dress up and parade around to collect candy and other treats from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 31.
