Tour the Brainerd Building During Festival on Aug. 27

The historic Brainerd Building will be open for tours during the North Shore Wine, Beer, Cigar and Food Festival.

The public is invited to join guided tours of the Brainerd Building on Aug. 27 as part of the to be held on the grounds at 416 W. Park Ave. in Libertyville.

Tours will be available between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. to demonstrate how the building can be converted into a community center. The public will be able to see what improvements are necessary as well as what inherent strengths are present in the building.

. The Former Libertyville High School is on the National Register of Historic Places and has been identified on the watch list by Landmarks Illinois as a property still threatened with destruction. Recent improvements to the building include window painting and the installation of a security system.

The North Shore Wine, Beer, Cigar and Food Festival is the major fundraiser for the Save Brainerd organization.
