Windy Day Ahead, Courtesy of Hurricane Sandy

A wind advisory is in effect for Lake County Oct. 30.

The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory Monday night for Lake County that will be in effect from 1 a.m. to 7 p.m. Oct. 30.

According to the National Weather Service, northerly sustained winds of 30 to 35 miles per hour are possible, along with gusts of 45 to 55 miles per hour.

The National Weather Service office in Chicago advises that "winds this strong can cause minor property damage unless precautions are taken. Driving may be difficult, especially in high-profile vehicles. Motorists should be alert and use caution."

The strongest winds are expected to be by the Lake Michigan shore. The lake could see wave heights of 20 to 25 feet.
