Name: Jack Miller
School, grade: Highland Middle School, 8th grade

Character: Jean Valjean
What do you like about playing Jean Valjean? I was hoping for this part. He's showing that people really can change. He starts out almost evil. The whole play is about his struggle to become a better person.
Tell me about the production. We've got a great cast. At the auditions, we thought, "How are we going to do this?" But everyone's so great that we see we can pull it off.
What's your favorite song in the musical? "The Epilogue" when Jean Valjean is dying. It's just the most beautiful piece in a musical.
"Les Mis" is undeniably sad. Is it tough to take on such an emotional production? You don't take it on as sad. All of these people died for a cause. There's still a glimmer of hope. That's what this musical is about—hope and love.
