Blues Traveler to Headline Vernon Hills Summer Celebration

The village's 55th annual carnival will include rides, games, music and more.

Music, food and fun will be the theme as Vernon Hills hosts its annual Summer Celebration from July 18-21 at Century Park. 

The event will begin at 6 p.m. July 18, when the carnival opens. The carnival will run until 10 p.m. that night, with carnival bracelets available for $20. Other entertainment will include a 7 p.m. performance by classic rock band 97Nine and fireworks at 9:15 p.m. at Big Bear Lake.

The celebration will continue from 6 p.m. to midnight July 19. In addition to the carnival, highlights will include a 7 p.m. performance by Modern Day Romeos and Mike & Joe. The bands will play alternating sets throughout the night. Bingo games will run from 6010 p.m., and a DJ will perform under the big tent at 11 p.m.

July 20 festivities will include the carnival from 1 p.m. to midnight. Carnival bracelets will be available from 1-5 p.m. for $20. Other entertainment will include crafts and entertainment for children from 1-3 p.m. under the big tent, Bingo from 6-10 p.m. and a 7 p.m. performance by Eagles cover band Heartache Tonight. The night will wrap up with a 9 p.m. performance by Blues Traveler and a DJ under the big tent beginning at 11 p.m.

July 21 will feature the carnival from 1-7 p.m. ($20 carnival bracelets will be sold from 1-5 p.m.), children’s crafts and entertainment, including a petting zoo, under the big tent from 1-3 p.m., a bags tournament at 2 p.m. (doubles play for ages 21 and up) and a 5 p.m. performance by The Hot Sauce Committee.
