CLC Dance Troupe to Present Winter Dance Concert

The College of Lake County Dance Department will present its Winter Dance Concert on Dec. 6, 7 and 8 in the Mainstage Theatre of the James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts on the Grayslake campus.

Guest artist Vershawn Sanders from Red Clay Dance Company in Chicago will join CLC dance faculty members Valerie Alpert, Therese Crews, Wendy Dahl, Jeannine Potter and Lamaiya Lancaster in creating eclectic and exciting works.

Guest company VADCO/Valerie Alpert Dance Company will also perform a work called “Notes from an Artist,” featuring choreography by Valerie Alpert, music by Armand Amar, visual art by Elizabeth Szymczak and VADCO dancers Alana Johnson, Lexie Kay, Matthew Kinney, Lamaiya Lancaster, Lia Mrazek and André Santiago.

A total of 35 CLC students from the Prairie Spirits Dance Troupe will perform 11 works with styles ranging from ballet to modern to acroyoga, which combines acrobatics and yoga. Dances will be set to music by a variety of composers/performers, including Boards of Canada, MC Yogi, Tin Hat Trio, Truth, Yiruma, Philip Glass, Armand Amar, APM Dubstep AllStars, TRIBOLO Sébastein and Tori Amos.

Performances will be held on Friday, Dec. 6 and Saturday, Dec. 7 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, December 8 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults; $8 for CLC/Senior/JLC Subscribers $8; and $4 for children under age 12. 

Prices include a $1 JLC facility fee. The Box Office is open Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.and 90 minutes prior to each performance. College dance performances make excellent group outings, and groups of six or more people are eligible for discounted ticket prices.
