Dancenter North to Present "The Magic of the Nutcracker"

Now celebrating its 25th anniversary, Dancenter North is set to delight Lake County with its production of "The Magic of the Nutcracker". Seen by thousands every holiday season, this is the longest running and largest production of "Nutcracker" in the area.

Since its inception in 1989, "Nutcracker" has featured the finest in local dance talent, in addition to international guest artists.  The students in featured roles have gone on to pursue professional dance careers with renowned companies such as Riverdance, Milwaukee Ballet, Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago, American Ballet Theatre, Ballet San Jose, Cirque de Soleil, and the Alvin Ailey Company, a press release states.

Cheri Lindell, Director and Producer of the ballet, says that this year's "Nutcracker" has the potential to be the most "magical" yet:

"There is definite magic in the air over this particular season of our Nutcracker.  The enthusiasm and excitement in our early rehearsals is something we haven't seen before. The talent is amazing among our student cast members and the spectacular additions of the professionals we have in this year's cast is going to bring the production to a whole new level."
 
"The Magic of the Nutcracker" will be performed on Saturday Dec. 7 and Sunday Dec. 8 at 3 p.m. at Libertyville High School. There will also be a special "storybook" version for preschoolers, "Clara's Dream", at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday Dec. 7, also at Libertyville High School. Tickets for these performances can be purchased by calling Dancenter North at 847-367-7970.  

"The Magic of the Nutcracker" will also be performed on Saturday Dec. 14 and Sunday Dec. 15 at 3 p.m. at the Genesee Theatre in Waukegan. Tickets for these performances can be purchased by visiting ticketmaster.com . A special school show will be performed on Friday Dec. 13 at 10 a.m. Tickets for the school performance can be purchased by calling Barb Corso at the Genesee Theatre at 847-782-2366. Tickets for performances at both Libertyville High School and the Genesee Theatre  will go on sale beginning at noon on Friday Oct. 18.
