Liberty Town delivers ‘Love Letters’ and more
Not-for-profit entertainer couples with Mickey Finn’s for a romantic, affordable Valentine’s Day
LIBERTYVILLE, IL—A romantic and affordable Valentine’s Day evening in downtown Libertyville is Liberty Town Productions’ latest entertaining offering.
The 3-year-old not-for-profit entertainment enterprise produces and hosts the evening-of-hearts fete at Mickey Finn’s Amber Room, featuring A.R. Gurney’s comedy-drama, Love Letters, starring Arlington Heights’ Maggie Bieritz and Libertyville’s Scott Metzger.
But if Love Letters (which begins at 7:30) is the main course, patrons are encouraged not to miss the appetizers. The celebration begins promptly at 6:30 with a cash bar cocktail hour featuring the vocal stylings of Libertyville’s Dawn Christine Crowther and Hawthorn Woods’ Laurel Ann Kaiser on piano. An hors d'oeuvres buffet is included in the $22 advance-admission price.
“Love Letters is a touching ‘dramedy’ tracing the relationship of a man and a women via the letters they wrote to one another--from their first meeting in second grade through the ups and downs of their lives,” said Metzger, who championed this production with Liberty Town after seeing it done regularly on Valentine’s Day during his career as a professional actor in Los Angeles.
“I like it because it’s real. It’s become a Valentine’s Day ‘standard’ of sorts because it provides audiences intimate insight into this deep relationship and, I hope, brings them to appreciate the love in their life more fully because of it.”
Liberty Town’s decision to create the Valentine’s Day show came about quickly when Bieritz, Crowther and Kaiser, veterans of the company’s showcase and musicals, agreed to perform. “The enthusiasm of Kristen Christensen and Brian Grano at Mickey Finn’s sealed the deal,” said Liberty Town’s Executive Director Barry Reszel.
"February 14th falls on a Tuesday this year," said Reszel. "But we want to truly celebrate Valentine’s Day by sharing this evening of fabulous entertainment and great food, all wrapped up in a romantic package with the people in the community we love. You’ll even be home before 10. Liberty Town put it all together for you; just get your tickets before they’re sold out.”
“A Romantic Valentine's Day with Liberty Town Productions” is Tuesday, Feb. 14, at Mickey Finn’s Amber Room, 412 N. Milwaukee Ave., Libertyville. Seating is limited for the one-night-only celebration. Producers recommend $22/person advance ticket purchase from the “box office” page at www.libertytownproductions.com or in person at Mickey Finn’s. Any remaining tickets will be sold at the door for $25, beginning at 6:30.
