ART GROUP TOUR

 ART GROUP TO TOUR CHICAGO’S AQUA TOWER AND KAM LIU COMMUNITY CENTER:  The Libertyville/Mundelein Community Associates of the Art Institute (LMCA) will spend October 4th in Chicago touring Studio Gang Architects’ Aqua Tower which is one of the few high-rises in the world that creates a community on its façade.  With apartments, condominiums, offices, parking, a hotel, and one of Chicago’s largest green roofs, this multi-use tower demonstrates both architectural and technical achievements. Its outdoor terraces create a strong connection with the outdoors and the city, as well as form the tower’s distinctive undulating appearance. Aqua has received accolades for its sustainability, innovations, and design.  The architecture of the award-winning Kam Liu Community center was designed to convey a sense of familiarity and welcome to new Chinese immigrants arriving in Chicago.  Details such as lattice screens utilize a Chinese palette of color and pattern.  See Aqua and the Kam Liu Center up close and tour them with Studio Gang Architects.  Lunch that day will be at the Chicago Firehouse Restaurant.  For more information about  LMCA and this and future trips, call Peggy at 847-680-3095.
