Improv Playhouse North Suburban Youth Improv Festival

Improv teams and clubs from the Chicago northern suburbs are invited to register for the North Suburban Youth Improv Festival sponsored by Improv Playhouse Community Outreach and Education (NFP). The goal of the Improv Playhouse North Suburban Youth Improv Festival is to establish a community of teen and tween improvisers representative of a myriad of training organizations and school districts. David Stuart, Executive Producer at Improv Playhouse, is founding the festival along with Betsy Driver Williams, drama educator at Oak Grove School. The festival is created to enable these young performers to showcase their passion and interest in improvisation, its many forms and presentational styles in front of their peers and community. “We believe improvisation is an underrated and underutilized mode of artistic expression. By providing the participants the opportunity to exercise this art, we hope to foster the growth of self-expression, community involvement, teamwork and friendly collaboration," says Stuart. Lunch will be served from a local vendor with meat or veggie options. Registration info can be found online. Cost is $25 per student. This registration fee includes enrollment in the workshops, lunch and a public performance opportunity for the team or ensembles represented. The Illinois Allstate Teen Improv Team and Improv Playhouse Teen Ensembles will be featured headliners. Workshop coaches will include staff from elite improv programs. An all-festival team will also perform. The festival will be held at Oak Grove School, 1700. S. O’Plaine Rd., Green Oaks, on Saturday, December 3rd from 9:00-3:00pm. All inquiries should be made to Improv Playhouse, 116 W. Lake St, Libertyville, by going to the website at www.improvplayhouse.com or by calling 847-968-4529, by Monday, November 21st.
