Kevin Reeks Teaching Music Theory at The David Adler Music and Arts Center

Piano Instructor Kevin Reeks will be teaching the Musicianship and Music Theory class at the Adler Center.  He has also expanded his schedule to include Thursdays!

Kevin always knew he wanted to play the piano since he watched his older sister take piano lessons in their home. Kevin was 8 years old when he began his piano instruction.  In addition to the piano, Kevin started playing percussion in the school band, and continued his music study of the marimba and xylophone.  A native of Illinois, Kevin received his Bachelor’s in Music from Illinois State University, and pursued graduate studies at Roosevelt University.  His two favorite pieces to perform are Sonatine by composer Maurice Ravel, and Arabesque by Claude Debussy.  Kevin will be giving a concert in the Fine Arts Building at Pianoforte Chicago on March 12th.   He will also be one of the faculty performers at the Friday March 18th opening reception of “An Exhibition:  The David Adler Music and Arts Center Celebrates the Arts” from 7:00-9:00pm.

For Kevin, the most exciting feature of being a teacher is the interaction with students, and when he is able to open the door to a new musical discovery for a student!
