Social Workers Available to Help Students, Parents

Social workers and psychologists will be available Wednesday and Thursday as students and parents face the loss of Butterfield School student Tony Borcia.

will have social workers and psychologists available this week to help students and parents begin to process their grief after the loss of .

District 70 psychologists and social workers will be available in an informal drop-in setting on Wednesday and Thursday at the Educational Resource Center, across from . 

The free service will be offered from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Aug. 1 and 2, at the ERC, 1381 W. Lake St., Libertyville. Meetings will be held in confidential settings.

Counselors will help students and parents deal with the death of . Counselors will help students deal with grief, as well as explain to parents what they can expect as their child goes through the grieving process. Counselors also will suggest books to help both adults and children deal with loss. 

The counselors will be available before the wake being held from 3-9 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 1, at The Koenig Center, , 121 E. Maple Ave., Libertyville. Counselors also will be available on Thursday, Aug. 2, when the funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will follow at , 1920 Buckley Road, Libertyville.
